The Missouri State High School Activities Association Class 1, District 5 soccer championship came down to the final few seconds of overtime between Stover and the host team Nov. 6.
The Bulldog defense lapsed just long enough in the end to allow junior Taylor Allen to slip by for the winning goal and make it 2-1 Fatima at the end of the extra 15-minute period.
“Allen split two defenders at midfield and raced to the top of the penalty box, where he hit a good, hard shot past Tyler Wilson,” Stover soccer coach Roy Poynter said. “Seniors Ethan Braun, Brandon Folsom, Eric Reiger and Trenton Wilbanks saw their high school soccer careers come to an end, but the Bulldogs played a solid match against a very skilled soccer squad.”
